Health and Safety Risk Assessments

The same rules apply as contained in a standard Fire Risk Assessment but if you have five or more staff, it's a legal requirement to have a Health and Safety Risk Assessment that is written and available to all employees, visitors and contractors.

At Fire Safety Sussex we will check your Health and Safety policy and cover everything that Health & Safety legislation further requires such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

What Fire Safety Sussex offer

At Fire Safety Sussex we will guide the “responsible person” as to his or or her responsibilities and fire safety duties. We will consider the type of premises, all potential risks and any Fire Safety Arrangements that are needed to be put in place.

Our training covers fire alarms, fire detection, emergency lighting, emergency routes and fire exits as well as fire doors, closers and all associated hardware. Procedures for imminent dangerous areas or process, emergency measures for dangerous substances, maintenance and safety assistance. Provision of information to employees, training, cooperation and co-ordination, general duties of the employer, its employees and enforcement of the order.

It is important to keep your risk assessment under regular review. Over time, the risks may change. If you identify significant changes in risk or make any significant changes to your plan, you must tell others who share the premises and where appropriate re-train staff.

Fire Safety Sussex will show you how to:

  • Identify hazards, i.e. anything that has the potential to cause harm
  • Decide who may be harmed, and how
  • Assess the risks and take action
  • Make a record of the findings
  • Review the risk assessment.
